It’s the seventh Salik toll gate to come into operation in Dubai…

A new Salik toll gate begins operating on Sheikh Zayed Road from today, Wednesday October 24.

The new toll gate is located near the Energy metro station in Jebel Ali, before the intersection of Yalayis. The gate will charge cars Dhs4 each time they pass through, and is the seventh toll gate to be erected in Dubai.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) made the announcement back in July, saying that the gate would go live once construction was completed of the bridge on Al Yalayis Street which links to the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road.

“By installing Salik Toll Gate in Jebel Ali, RTA aims to redistribute the traffic movement and divert part of the traffic movement from Jebel Ali in the direction of Sharjah and other Emirates,” RTA director general and chairman Mattar Al Tayer said at the time.

“Motorists will be able to use alternative roads such as the Emirates Road, Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Road, and Al Khail Road,” he added.
