What better way to celebrate the festival of lights?

Dubai is set to light up for Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, with a spectacular fireworks display.

Head to Al Seef at 8.30pm on Wednesday, November 7, and you’ll not only be able to enjoy the fireworks show, but also the city’s first official diya (clay lamp) lighting ceremony.

From November 1 to 10, visitors to Al Seef will be able to get amongst the festivities by putting LED tea lights on pre-prepared diya. This will take place from 5pm to 10pm on weekdays, and from 5pm to midnight on weekends. There will also be Diwali-themed performances, such as Bollywood Bhangra, to enjoy.

During this time, visitors will also be able to check out a Diwali market, with unique handicrafts, silverware, decorations and colourful Indian outfits up for grabs, as well as Indian snacks and beverages. You’ll find the market in the heritage area of Al Seef.

Can’t get enough of the Diwali action? On Saturday, November 10, you can join an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for “the most number of people lighting LED lights in a relay”. This will start at 5pm, at the heritage stage of Al Seef Dhow Deck.

Happy Diwali, Dubai!
