The relaxed new restaurant is set on the stunning Madinat waterways…

Greek food is seriously having a moment in Dubai, and we’re here for it. Especially with the arrival of Dubai’s latest Greek restaurant, Taverna, which has just opened its doors in Souk Madinat Jumeirah.

The homegrown concept has replaced Left Bank (that’s next to Trader Vic’s) in the Madinat Jumeirah, and is home to a cosy indoor restaurant, complete with separate bar and fresh fish counter, as well as a 40-seater alfresco terrace that overlooks the oh-so-Instagrammable waterways of Souk Madinat.

Stepping inside the restaurant is like stepping into a cosy restaurant in a quaint Greek town with stone walls, wooden beams and dim lighting.

A marble bar is complimented by high wooden bar stools, and a fresh fish counter and open plan kitchen  make it feel like you’re dining inside a quaint, family run restaurant in the Mediterranean.

On the menu, guests can expect authentic Greek dishes designed to share, with a heavy focus on seafood. The menu is split into cold plates, salads and appetizers to start, followed by seafood, wood fired grill options and Taverna classics.

Guests can expect some authentic dishes such as grilled octopus, souvlaki skewers and moussaka, as well as some more Dubai options, such as sea bass carpaccio and calamari.

The stars of the show are the larger sharing dishes, such as a whole seabass, or slow roasted lamb shoulder served with oven roasted potatoes and couscous salad.

Open from 12pm daily, it’s the perfect pitstop for a day out iwth visitors, or the perfect place for when you’re craving a top Taramosalata.

Taverna, Waterfront, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Sun to Weds 12pm to 12am, Thurs to Sat 12pm to 1am. Tel: (04) 589 5665. tavernagreek.ae
