A shared taxi service will also be introduced at Dubai World Central ,which will help ease the cost and reduce passenger wait time at the airport…

Passengers who will have to travel through Al Maktoum International Airport (Dubai World Central) during the DXB runway closure from April 16 to May 30 will receive a 75 per cent discount on the flag down fare when traveling by Dubai Taxi Corporation, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced.

The flag down rate will be reduced by 75 per cent from Dhs20 to Dhs5 for passengers using DTC taxis.

Many passengers traveling to Dubai will be diverted from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Al Maktoum International Airport (near Jebel Ali) due to extensive upgrade work being done to the southern runway at DXB.

The move by the RTA aims to help ease mobility of passengers, reduce wait time and reduce taxi fees, and will see flag down rates decrease for 45 days from April 16 to May 30, 2019.

“Lifting passengers from Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) has become faster and cheaper now,” said Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, CEO of Dubai Taxi Corporation.

“We have also introduced a shared taxi service at Al Maktoum airport, which will reduce the fare for arriving passengers. As such, it is now possible for more than one rider to share a taxi from Al Maktoum International airport to multiple destinations.”

“The step will ease the mobility of passengers, reduce the waiting time and save expenses,” he added.
