Who do you think will head to the region next year?

2018 was a big year in music across the UAE. From K-Pop concerts at the 117 Live Arena and Backstreet Boys and Stereophonics both performing sellout gigs at Media City, to the stellar F1 after race concerts in Abu Dhabi, 2018 was home to some pretty epic gigs.

And we’re confident 2019 will be no different. Already confirmed and still to come is the hotly anticipated Maroon 5 show in June, but who else is on their way to the city? What’s On makes some (hopeful) predictions…

Laura Coughlin, Head of Content: Lady Gaga

More wish-list than prediction, Lady G might be too busy now that she’s a fully-fledge A-list actress and all, but after watching A Star is Born, I have a new-found appreciation for the Poker Face star. What I would give to see her sing Shallow live…

Alice Holtham, Digital Editor: Shawn Mendes

Performing at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, releasing a number one album, winning the Billboard Artist of the Year award, it’s been a big year for Shawn Mendes. The 22-year-old popstar has a big tour planned across Europe, USA and Australia next year, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him add a Dubai date or two somewhere in between.

Aarti Saundalkar, Junior Online Reporter: Adele

After accidentally stumbling upon a YouTube video of Adele performing live at the Royal Albert Hall, attending one of her concerts has become a massive dream. I can pretty much relate to most of her top hits and you can be sure I will be there front row belting my heart out if she does make an appearance. Hopefully it will be at Dubai Opera…

Dominic Clerici, Marketing Manager: Michael Buble

After a hiatus from music, Michael Buble has just released a new album, Love, and he hasn’t performed in Dubai since 2015, so he’s due a trip to the Emirate. The music icon that appeals to the masses is my top favourite to hit the stage in the city in 2019.

Lauren Fletcher, Junior Online Reporter: Jess Glynne

British pop singer Jess Glynne, famous for smash hits such as Real Love, Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself and These Days, was due to perform at Redfest DXB back in February but had to pull out at last minute. So surely she’ll come back this year? I was due to see her in June back in the UK so maybe it’s just wishful thinking…

Elise Kerr, Online Reporter: Ariana Grande

Fresh from the headline stage of Coachella, Ariana is at the top of her game right now and a sell-out show in Dubai could only elevate it further. As soon as the Coca-Cola Arena announced it’s opening, I could picture her taking over the stage with her epic set design and show-stopping outfits.
