The Walk of Fame style attraction will open with 400 stars this October…

The UAE’s Hollywood Walk of Fame style attraction, has announced three new celebrities are set to be awarded Dubai Stars this October.

Footballer Lionel Messi is one of three stars announced via Twitter as the newest recipients of the prestigious Dubai Stars.

“We’re incredibly excited to give out our next “Dubai Star” to the all-time highest goalscorer in @LaLiga and the youngest football player to win 4 Ballon d’Or awards. Congratulations Lionel Messi!” the Tweet read.

Saudi Arabian singer Abdul Majeed Abdullah, who’s music has been played as part of the Dubai Fountain show, was also announced as a Dubai Star recipient. Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni will also receive a Dubai Star later this year.

The three celebrities join the already announced Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and Lebanese designer Elie Saab in forming the first five recipients.

The exciting new attraction is a project is by Dubai developer, Emaar, and will be found on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai.

400 stars will be unveiled at the launch in October this year, with celebrities voted for by the public in a global social media campaign. When complete, there will be 10,000 Dubai Stars in total, that’s four times that of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
