The new flight route will travel via Barcelona from December…

Emirates has announced a new flight route which will give passengers the chance to explore Mexico City, a previously underserved destination.

The route will be operated on Emirates’ newly refurbished two-class Boeing 777-200LR aircrafts once launched on Monday December 9, 2019. Each plane has 264 economy seats and 38 for business class. There’s also space for 14 tonnes of cargo.

Mexico City is the first Mexican destination in Emirates’ offering, however due to the airport’s high altitude it’s not possible for the airline to fly direct from Dubai. According to a statement by Emirates, Barcelona was a natural choice for a stopover.

“We are pleased to offer a direct connection on the route between the Spanish city and Mexico City that has long been neglected by other airlines and remains underserved despite the strong customer demand,” said Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline.

The daily flights hope to boost tourism, improve cultural ties, and increase trade for avocados, berries, mangoes, automotive parts and medical supplies.
