The Cucumber Carnival promises fun workshops, performances, exciting shows and plenty of food…

It’s the celebration of the humble cucumber that has taken off in the UAE, and DXB Cucumber Day is back this October with a free-two day carnival.

Taking place at Soho Garden on Thursday October 17 and Friday October 18, the Cucumber Carnival promises fun workshops, performances, exciting shows and plenty of food.

Free to attend, festival-goers will be able to get their groove on to The Electric Swing Circus and other bands, marvel at magic shows, see their future in tarot readings as well as taking part in some quintessential games like cucumber croquet, rose and spoon and three-legged races, vintage olympics and a Cucumber Cup horse race over the weekend-long event.

Doors will open at 7pm on Thursday October 17, where a feast fit for a king will take place from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Priced at Dhs250, it’ll be set up banquet-style with quintessential dishes like cured salmon, pan roasted chicken breast with truffle mash and unlimited gin-infused cocktails.

Moving onto Friday’s extravaganza; entry will start from 2pm, with a Victorian-style high tea served from 3pm to 5pm complete with cute finger sandwiches, mini eclairs and delectable tartlets to feast your eyes and bellies on. It’s also priced at Dhs250.

‘What about the cucumber exchange?’ we hear you ask. Well make sure to bring yours and you’ll be able to enjoy a free gin and tonic each day at the festival. It’s limited to one per day per person.

While both events finish at 1am, an afterparty will be going on until 3am at The Greenhouse on both days with free entry.

The carnival marks the end of a six-week drinks deal that started on September 8, with more than 50 participating bars and restaurants across the UAE serving special gin-based cocktails for Dhs40.
