From exciting meaty adventures to new pub grub offerings, some of the capital’s top restaurants have given their menus a refresh. Here’s a look at 11 of the best…

Special set menus

Oak Room

Our What’s On Restaurant of the Year has been serving up meaty marvels for the best part of a year now, and recently a new beef tasting menu has been added to its offerings. Guests will begin with a beef tartare and beef carpaccio, followed by 18-hour braised short rib, and a 300g black onyx tenderloin, finishing off with an Eton Mess and sticky toffee pudding. The cost per person is a steal at Dhs450 or you can choose wine pairing for Dhs750.

Café Sushi

There are few things team What’s On love more than a good hot pot. Café Sushi’s new unlimited shabu-shabu option sees diners immerse a range of fresh ingredients – from vegetables, tofu and noodles to slices of Angus beef – into a large cauldron of soup to stew, before enjoying it with daikon ponzu and goma sauce.

Kamoon has introduced a new romantic Arabic set menu. Sit under the stars in a beautiful gazebo and enjoy a special three-course menu. Dishes include the Kamoon salad with avocado, tomatoes and berries, a selection of cold and hot mezze, and mixed grill, followed by a dessert.

New dishes


This lovely Italian in the Crowne Plaza Hotel has introduced an exciting range of new authentic seafood dishes, including pan-seared scallops with asparagus, roasted whole seabass with grilled vegetables, and an insalata di mare with prawns, octopus and scallops. Elsewhere on the new menu is a T-bone steak, desserts, and fresh new pizza toppings.

JW Steakhouse

The high-end steakhouse has added a number of prime steak options to its menu this season. Highlights include a USDA certified prime black Angus beef (Dhs251), oak smoked BBQ wagyu beef short ribs (Dhs229), and Spanish 21-day grass fed beef (Dhs289).

District by Amalfi

The popular Italian restaurant at Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi has shaken up its menu with a range of new antipasti, mains, and a very exciting new mozzarella bar. We recommend the new grilled prawns alla diavola, beef bresola, and delicious open pumpkin lasagna.

Shang Palace

New dim sum options abound at award-winning Chinese restaurant Shang Palace. Choose the all-you-can-eat option available daily from noon to 2.30pm for just Dhs115 per person and try unique delicacies from xiao long bao to chicken feet.

Trader Vic’s

The French-Polynesian restaurant has renovated its menu, retiring dishes such as the Asian duck salad and masala chicken skewers, and adding in a Chinatown chicken salad, and a chicken kofta skewer. Other new dishes include kung pao chicken wings, a Madagascar peppercorn steak, Mongolian beef, and steamed seabass.

Best bar none

Velocity Sports Bar

New hearty pub grub options have been added to the What’s On Award-winning sports bar Velocity. Dishes include honey BBQ beef back ribs (Dhs120), twisted corn dogs (Dhs52), and the Aussie favourite chicken Parmy (Dhs82).

Porters English Pub

This legendary watering hotel in Abu Dhabi has served classic British pub grub for years, and this season it’s added no less that 21 new dishes to its ever-growing menu. Whether you’re in the mood for a mega beef tomahawk, or a mighty chicken shawarma burger, something a little lighter in the form of a protein bowl or kale, avocado and scallops, or sharing new platters of loaded onion rings or baked potato boats, Porters has it covered.

The Warehouse Wine & Tapas bar

Elevate your cheese and wine nights thanks to new additions to The Warehouse’s new menu. You can now order a raclette melt with roasted baby potatoes, pickles and mortadella for Dhs65, or a selection of cheesy pebbles – think cheddar stuffed jalapeno bites for Dhs75. Other new menu items include the new lamb and chicken sujuk flatbread options with red onion and pomegranate.
