Take note if you’re travelling over the festive period…

Dubai Airports has issued a warning to passengers travelling through Dubai International Airport (DXB) this weekend as over one million customers are expected to travel through the three terminals in DXB over the three days.

As the world’s busiest international airport, the weekend following school winter break closures, Thursday December 12 to Saturday December 14, is due to be exceptionally busy.

Dubai Airports is urging passengers to arrive a minimum of three hours early to ensure they arrive at their departure gate in plenty of time.

DXB also stressed it is working with airlines ‘to ensure a smooth flow of traffic through the airport and minimise the impact of the seasonal rush on the quality of customer service’. The warning also suggested to leave additional time when making your way to the airport, as road traffic can build up in the surrounding area.

Emirates Airline also expects a busy travel period ahead of the holiday season. Between Thursday December 12 and Saturday December 20, the airline is predicting 300,000 passengers to pass through DXB Terminal 3.

The busiest day of travel will be Friday December 13, with 40,000 passengers expected to travel during the course of the day. Customers are reminded that gates open 90 minutes before departure, boarding starts 45 minutes before each flight and gates close 20 minutes before take off.
