The planned routes will cover Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Indian subcontinent…

Planning a vacation from the capital will soon be made easier (and more wallet-friendly) with the arrival of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi – a new low-cost carrier launching in Abu Dhabi the second half of 2020.

The planned routes are so far set to cover all of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Indian subcontinent. So, wherever you’re planning a trip next year – it’s likely that Wizz Air will have you covered.

The new low cost airline is a collaboration between Wizz Air, the largest low fare – low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, and Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADDH)

The new airline is expected to start operations with a fleet of Airbus A321neo aircrafts and numbers are expected to reach about 5 billion passengers.

Bryan Thomspon, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, stated that the venture was a ‘game-changer’ and would increase connectivity from around the world with Abu Dhabi for both the leisure and business traveller.

But this isn’t the only low-cost airline that will soon begin operations in Abu Dhabi.

A joint venture between Etihad and Air Arabia will see the launch of Air Arabia Abu Dhabi soon. The announcement, made by the two airlines back in October 2019, said that more information regarding the new joint venture will be released “in the near future”.

Air Arabia was the first low-cost airline to be introduced in the MENA region when it launched out of Sharjah International Airport in 2003.

The launch of flydubai, which operates mainly out of DXB Terminal 2, followed suit in 2009.
