Rustic atmosphere + home comforts + nature + dogs = best holiday ever…

Your dog is your best buddy, and the bond between you two only strengthens when you take adventures together. Sadly, unless you’re up for camping, the options for weekend adventures in the Emirates are slim. Family staycations very rarely permit four-legged friends to tag along, too.

But RAK Glamping is giving families an exciting new city break holiday – dogs welcome.

The site is run by husband and wife duo Neil and Amanda, who also own Homely Petz one of the first pet-sitting companies to open in the UAE back in 2006. They were originally based in Dubai but decided to shift to Ras Al Khaimah in 2014 to set up a fully-fledged kennels facility.

They soon saw a need to open somewhere that the whole family could enjoy, so they began RAK Glamping. And with extensive dog experience and knowledge, you can bet the couple know exactly what your furry friend needs for a great stay…

All social dogs welcome

While there are a few hotels that allow dogs on their properties, there are always limitations in terms of the areas they can access. At RAK Glamping, all sociable dogs are welcome regardless of size.

Nine acres of running space

The property includes a whopping nine acres of nature for them to run around in and play. They won’t be able to run too far though, as the area is all fenced off giving owners peace of mind.

For curious noses, there are wonderful walks and Koi pond to splash around in. There’s also a pool available at the kennels that glamping dog guests are free to use, provided they are accompanied by their hooman.

The Bedouin-syle tents are comfortable and homely

It’s not just the nature outside that you’ll enjoy – you and your dogs will love these Bedouin tents, too.

While they’re designed to look like a traditional Bedouin tent, there are plenty of creature comforts including a double bed, fridge, fan, microwave, a small majlis area outside and more.

There are also board games in each tent, and plenty of tennis balls for Roofus.

In the morning, guests receive a “Brekkie Box” stuffed with cereal, milk, fruit, yogurt, bread rolls, jams and marmalade to enjoy on the patio.

Other facilities

Also available on  site is a communal barbecue area and fire pit – great for a family picnic. Guests can also feed tortoises, and visit the resident chickens, ducks, and horses.

At the moment, there are two glamping tents available at RAK Glamping with more to be added at a later date. Amanda and Neil have decided to take things slow learning as they go in order to create a true family – and pet-friendly – space.

Prices

Tent prices range from Dhs280 to Dhs350 per night for two, with an additional cost for three or more guests. Dogs stay for free. You can make your bookings here.

While all dogs are welcome, they must be fully up-t0-date on vaccinations, and toilet trained. And of course, humans are responsible for picking up after them.
