They landed at one of the city’s hottest new pool clubs…

If you looked to the skies around Dubai Marina on Sunday morning, you may have done a double-take. Forget birds flying past, today two gigantic statues in the shape of a tiger and gorilla were flying amongst the skyscrapers.

The internet in Dubai has lit up after the spectacle, with videos being posted to various social media accounts. As the statues were tugged along by helicopters, undoubtably, the question on everyones lips was, where were they heading?

After flying past Pier 7 and many other recognisable Dubai Marina landmarks, the giant statues came to rest at their new home: the recently-opened Wane by SoMiya pool club and lounge at the Address Dubai Marina hotel.

The pool club confirmed the news via its Instagram page this morning, reposting a number of videos that had been captured by eagle-eyed Dubai residents. Whilst the statues, designed by sculptor Idriss B, may have looked big in the sky, they’re colossal now they’ve landed.

You’ll find Wane by SoMiya up on the fourth floor terrace at the Address Dubai Marina hotel, giving pool-goers epic Dubai Marina views. It’s a brand new concept in Dubai that replaced the Shades pool, and it officially opens on October 15, 2020.

It looks like the tiger statue has been placed at the ‘infinity’ side of the infinity pool, where it looks to be prowling, no doubt a sight that will be marvelled at by guests of the venue, as well as those living around the Marina.

Whilst Wane by SoMiya is officially opening on October 15, it is open now to the public, from 8am to 3am daily. DJ’s are on hand to provide entertainment as you lap up the sunshine and dip in the crystal blue waters.

As well as a club, an exciting new restaurant, Le Kong, is also slated to launch in October, in partnership with the pool club, so watch this space for more information…
