Heading out on Friday? Take note of these road closures…

Drivers in Dubai, take note. These major roads will be closed for a few hours on Friday, November 26 to make way for the runners participating in Dubai Run.

So, if you are planning on heading out on Friday morning, make sure you note the alternative routes suggested by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Don’t worry, you don’t have to cancel your plans as the RTA has suggested alternative routes, which only means you may have to leave slightly earlier to get to your destination.

Here are the road closures you need to be aware of.

Sheikh Zayed Road between Dubai World Trade Centre Roundabout till Dubai Mall bridge (first interchange) will be closed from 4am to 9am. Alternative roads suggested by the RTA include Al Khail Road via the upper Financial Centre Road and Al Wasl Road via Al Safa Road.

Lower Financial Centre Road on both sides will be closed from 4am till 10am. The RTA suggested Upper Financial Centre Road as an alternative route.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will be closed during the same time, 4am until 10am with Burj Khalifa Street suggested as the alternative route.

Lastly, Al Mustaqbal Street between 2nd Za’abeel and Financial road will be closed from 6.30am to 10.30am. Take Al Sukouk Street and Al Boursa Street, instead.

RTA also announced a change in Dubai Metro timings to help participants on the day to get to the start line with the first trip starting at 3.30am on Friday, 26 November.

The 5th edition of Dubai Fitness Challenge is now in its last few days ending on Saturday, November 27. The challenge pushes Dubai residents to take part in 30 minutes of exercise for 30 days.
