Sushi, live music and glittering Mamsha beach views make NIRI one of Abu Dhabi’s best dinner spots right now

Mamsha Al Saadiyat always feels a little cinematic at night, it comes alive. The water shimmers beside the promenade, music drifts through the restaurants, and the Dine and Vibe activation adds even more energy to the beachfront with live performances carrying across the shoreline.

We visited NIRI Restaurant & Bar recently, where live entertainment and beachfront dining come together across Mamsha’s buzzing restaurant scene. NIRI feels right at home in that setting. Overlooking Mamsha Beach, the restaurant pairs contemporary Japanese dining with a lively atmosphere and beautiful waterfront views.

In true Japanese fashion, NIRI delivers a dining experience that feels distinctive yet welcoming at the same time. Part neighbourhood yakitori restaurant, part sushi counter and part highball bar, it is the kind of place that works just as well for date night as it does for long dinners with friends and family.

The vibe

The live entertainment added so much to the experience here. One performer moved between instruments throughout the night, shifting seamlessly from jazzy melodies into upbeat pop favourites that suited the crowd and the setting beautifully. At certain moments, conversations softened as people paused to listen before drifting back into the buzz of dinner service.

Outside, the beachfront shimmered under the lights while tables filled with groups sharing plates and cocktails. Inside, NIRI keeps things sleek and modern without feeling cold. The space feels social, polished and comfortable all at once.

The food & drinks

NIRI

The food delivered from the very first plate. The corn tempura arrived golden and crisp, with sweet corn kakiage lifted by ponzu, chilli daikon and a dusting of shichimi. It was one of those dishes that disappears quickly from the table because everyone keeps going back for another bite.

The spicy salmon sushi balanced richness and freshness well, layered with cucumber, avocado and kizami wasabi for a subtle kick that built gradually. Yellowtail with goma ponzu dressing brought something lighter and more delicate to the meal, clean flavours allowing the quality of the fish to speak for itself.

The wagyu aburi added depth and richness, finished with nirikiri soy and kizami wasabi that cut through the buttery texture beautifully. Then came dessert, and honestly, it stole the show. The chocolate soufflé arrived warm and soft alongside a coffee disk and hazelnut ice cream. Decadent without becoming heavy, it was the kind of dessert that earns silence at the table for the first few bites.

The service

Despite the busy dinner crowd and live entertainment, the service remained smooth throughout the evening. Staff checked in regularly, plates arrived at a relaxed pace, and the team handled the flow of the restaurant confidently.

What’s On verdict

NIRI Restaurant and Bar gets the balance right. Excellent food, genuinely good live music and some of the prettiest beachfront views in Abu Dhabi. During Dine and Vibe season, it becomes the kind of dinner spot you end up recommending to everyone afterwards.
