No more “I’ve found this on the web”…

If you ask most iPhone users what their top frustration with Apple’s flagship tech is, one response will likely chime through more than others. Siri. In the age of supercharged, LLM software – the range of capabilities provided by Siri has started to feel… well, like unplanned obsolescence.

Along with ENBD’s EVA (RIP) and Amazon’s Alexa, Siri was part of a foundational, frontier-pushing progenerative wave of AI-powered virtual assistants. Back in the early 2010s – it all felt so futuristic. Siri could respond to and even make jokes, offer suggestions and recommendations on commercial services (and, for a troubling initial period, ‘where to hide a body’), complete minor tasks of user targeted convenience and then there was those secret hidden prompts that circulated in friendship groups like protected knowledge (remember discovering the Potter-inspired “Lumos” command for your torch light?).

The tech tarnish started after we got more acquainted with the likes of ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, and since then many have been feeling increasingly like Siri was in need of an upgrade.

Announced during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) taking place this week, the iOS27 overhaul looks set to finally deliver on that wish.

What new features can we expect from an updated Siri?

The new iOS27, enhanced AI version of Siri with ‘advanced reasoning’ will operate a cleaner and more vocally responsive connection to the internet –  avoiding that frustrating “I’ve found this on the web” answer, that essentially eliminates hands-free convenience. Siri 2.0 will also be equipped with ‘visual intelligence’ and be able to call back previous conversations and search across messages, emails, photos and apps, anchoring context and allowing for a more tailored, refined response.

Beyond that, a dedicated Siri AI app will be available, aggregating services and allowing review of previous conversations. Creating an experience that feels a lot closer to other AI agents on the market. Siri AI will be available on the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro.

Talking about the announcement, Apple SVP of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi stated “we’re excited to introduce Siri AI, a dramatically more capable and conversational assistant designed to help users find information and get things done throughout the day.”

When will Siri AI be available on UAE phones?

Mass rollout for the new Siri features will be part of the iOS27 update. And whilst we don’t have a precise date for that just yet, it will almost certainly fall in September 2026.

Early Beta access will be available for public testing in July 2026.

Until then it’s a farewell from us on the subject and a “I’m sorry, I don’t understand the question” from Siri.
