The Dhs2 billion Latifa bint Hamdan Corridor Development project will cut travel time by 54% from 33 minutes to just 15 minutes between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road

Dubai drivers, rejoice: a major new road development is set to majorly improve traffic and connectivity between some of the city’s major roads thanks to the unveiling of the Latifa bint Hamdan Corridor Development Project.

Announced by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Sunday, July 12, the Dhs2 billion project will see a 12km road built that will link Sheikh Zayed Road, through Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, to Emirates Road. Construction is set to be completed by the end of 2028.

You can see what it will look like in the video below:

Beyond the major new travel corridor, the project includes the construction of seven bridges extending 2,300 metres and eight tunnels covering 900 metres, enhancing traffic flow and improving the efficiency of the road network. When complete, the Latifa bint Hamdan Corridor will have capacity for 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions and reduce travel time between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road from 33 minutes to just 15 minutes. That marks a 54% reduction.

Running alongside the new road, 12.5km of cycling tracks will be constructed as part of the development project, linking with existing cycling tracks to connect cyclists from Al Qudra to Jumeirah, further enhancing mobility across the city.

The corridor will benefit residents of many Dubai neighbourhoods, most notably Nad Al Sheba, Al Barari, Dubai Hills, Dubai District One, Mohammed Bin Rashid Gardens, Living Legends, Majan and Global Village, in addition to residential, commercial and industrial areas along Latifa bint Hamdan Street and Al Meydan Street, as well as areas between Al Khail Road and Emirates Road.
