Sheikh Mohammed receives trophy from Queen Elizabeth at Royal Ascot
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai was present over the five days of Royal Ascot to see Godolphin’s Blue Point, ridden by James Doyle, secure a rare two-race win; galloping to victory in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes on Saturday June 22, as well as claiming the title of King’s Stand Stakes on the opening day of the racing festival on Tuesday. After Blue Point’s win on the final day of Royal Ascot, Sheikh Mohammed received the winning trophy from Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.
Dubai Metro will relocate all of its female cabins by August 2019
Women and children’s ‘pink cabins’ on Dubai Metro are being relocated to offer increased comfort and privacy for passengers. Over the next two months, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) will relocate its female cabins to one end of the train.The new cabins will be moved to the end opposite to the gold class, leaving the mixed cabins in the middle of the train. Signage will also be moved to make the new location clear to passengers. RTA plans to have this project complete by August 2019.
Deputy Ruler of Dubai joins Twitter
H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai is the latest Dubai Royal to join social media platform, Twitter. Sheikh Maktoum launched his official account during a meeting with Twitter co-found and CEO Jack Dorsey on his first visit to the UAE. Taking to the social media platform, the deputy ruler said “We are pleased to have hosted Twitter’s CEO and cofounder @jack on his first visit to the Middle East and the UAE. I am also pleased to have launched my new Twitter account in his presence”.
UAE fuel prices are decreasing in July
After four months of incremental increases, UAE petrol prices are set to decrease significantly next month. In July, drivers can expect to pay Dhs2.30 per litre for Super 98, down from Dhs2.53 in May. Special 95 will cost Dhs2.18 per litre, a decrease of 24 fils from Dhs2.42. Diesel will also be less expensive this month than last, priced at Dhs2.35 per litre for July – that’s a decrease of 21 fils.
The Dubai-Al Ain road is going to undergo a Dhs2 billion improvement
If your daily commute involves the Dubai-Al Ain Road take note – as it’s about to undergo some massive changes. An official Tweet from the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed the project, along with a video displaying the massive changes the Dubai-Al Ain Road will undergo. One of the major changes is the increase in the number of lanes from three to six in both directions over a 17-kilometre sector.
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan to receive Dubai Star
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has been announced as the second recipient of a Dubai Star, which will take its place on Dubai’s Hollywood-style Walk of Fame later this year. The Dubai Stars’ official Twitter account announced the news on June 25, saying that Khan was one of the most nominated celebrities for the award.
