Sheikh Khalifa re-elected UAE President for another five years
It will be the President’s fourth five-year term…
His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been re-elected as President of the UAE for the fourth time, the Supreme Council of the Union announced on Wednesday, November 6.
The Supreme Council of the Union expressed its ‘deep confidence in the wise leadership’ of President Sheikh Khalifa, wishing him luck on the journey of development and prosperity. He was first elected as President on November 3, 2004, after accompanying the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in founding the UAE.
After the passing of the Founding Father, President Sheikh Khalifa took over the ruling of the country, and has continued to do so for the last 15 years. Every five years there is a re-election by the Supreme Council of the Union.

According to state news agency Wam, the Supreme Council of the Union commended President Sheikh Khalifa as he ‘led the country towards the achievement stage that contributed to empowering the Emirati citizens, and the prosperity of the UAE, and its prominence locally and globally’.
Additionally to his role as President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa is also Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
