Part workshop, barbers, live music space, and cafe – are your geared up for Möto?

When Marco Möller decided to open a space in Al Quoz in 2015, he knew exactly what he wanted: a proper space to build one-off motorcycles, and a great coffeeshop.

Fast forward four years later and to say that Möto has been a labour of love for Marco would be an understatement. The entire warehouse has been designed and built him.

From the floorboards taken from an old warehouse, to the tables, chairs and bar-tops, Marco has either sourced, been gifted, or built himself – an unimaginable, and extremely impressive feat, and while it took longer than anyone anticipated to open, Möto has grown to become a major pit stop for the motor heads of Dubai.

Inside the enormous two-story warehouse is a large dining area complete with mismatched furniture and tongue-in-cheek artworks, a small stage cluttered with guitars and music equipment, and a fully-functional motorcycle workshop at the back. Meanwhile upstairs there’s a slick barbershop, and a narrow gallery space for local artists to showcase their work. It has the feel of an old bric-a-brac thrift store where you could spend hours finding cool hidden gems.

Coffee plays an important role at Möto, but Marco’s keen to push away an hipster stereotypes. “We just serve great coffee. That’s the only way I’d describe it.” And it’s true, they do serve great coffee (sourced from The Nightjar roastery just a few blocks down the road), but there are some fun specials too including a Rusty Coolant (Dhs33), which is cold brew served over ice cream, and an Oil Change (Dhs33) – cold brew over charcoal ice cream.

The menu has that no-frills diner food feel, with main dishes including the möto burger (Dhs50), the möto sausages served with sourdough (Dhs45), and a roast beef sandwich (Dhs49). Meanwhile, the breakfast menu runs the gamut from a farmer’s breakfast (Dhs53) with pan fried potatoes, meat loaf and two sunny side eggs to Granola with almonds and dried apricots (Dhs32).


The motorcycle workshop is a man cave of dreams.

Möto doesn’t just focus on motorcycles and great coffee, but also community. “We have a lot of different events happening here all the time. There’s the One Man’s Trash market where we encourage bikers and musicians to bring unwanted parts or gear to swap with others. We also have live music happening almost every week. It’s always changing – that’s the best part.”
