Eid Mubarak to all our readers. There’s plenty going on over the long weekend, from fireworks displays to brunches and kids’ shows, and here’s our selection of events we don’t think you can afford to miss.

Yas Waterworld celebrates

The capital’s aqua theme park is celebrating Eid with live music, four daily sessions from local drummers, competitions and games and more. Entry is Dhs185 to the park if you book online. The offer runs from June 25 until July 1.

Ferrari World open 24 hours

Abu Dhabi’s racing car themed amusement park will be open 24 hours today and is hosting a Rollercoaster Rally. As well as all the usual rides, there’ll be live performances, games, DJs, spinning tunes and four themed entertainment zones. You can access the park for free from 6pm today, until 11am on June 26 and you can try all rides for Dhs35 during that time.

Fireworks and prizes on Yas Island

Yas Island has a huge promotion running from June 24 to September 9 called #SayYas. If you spent at least Dhs400 anywhere on the island you’re entered into a competition to win a whopping one million dirhams. Go shopping in Yas Mall and you can stand a chance of winning a new Tesla model S 90kWh Dual Motor QTST. There are daily prizes worth Dhs5,000 and Dhs50,000 up for grabs at Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld also. What’s more, there’ll be a fireworks display at 9pm on the first day of Eid at Yas Marina.

Ramadan and Eid festival

Head to Adnec to take in some shopping (think traditional Arabic dresses and jewellery), Arabic food, toys and games at this annual exhibition celebrating the Holy Month and Eid. Some 500 vendors have taken part in previous years.

Events happening on the first day of Eid

Captain Tony’s fireworks boat tours

A boat will be the best place to see the fireworks on Yas Island on the first day of Eid, and local boat charter company Captain Tony’s are running trips to coincide with the fireworks at 9pm. They leave from Yas Marina.

Jazz Bar & Dining reopens

One of the city’s most popular live music venues re-opens on the first day of Eid – and with a new house band to boot. DNA 2.0 will be bashing out R&B, Latin, dance and jazz from 9.30pm.

Brunch at Café Palmier

Le Royal Meridien’s all-day dining outlet joins forces with café whEAT for a buffet of Arabic and International dishes, and you get access to the pool in the price also.

Brunch at Safina

Saadiyat Beach Club will be serving brunch on the first day of Eid – head to the beach for live barbecue grills, lamb ouzi, prime ribs, sushi bar, a seafood spread, chocolate shawarma and a cheese bar. It’s also a family friendly event – kids are welcome.

Brunch at Sevilla

Head to Al Raha Beach Hotel for brunch on the first day of Eid – you’ll find ouzi, kebabs and kasba on the menu, plus desserts and games in the kids’ corner. Pay Dhs354 and you get access to the hotel’s pool and beach.

Family fun at the city’s malls

The Galleria

Pop to Al Maryah Island this long weekend to learn more about Emirati culture – an Ayyalah band will be performing daily throughout Eid Al Fitr. A local calligrapher will also be at the mall, creating Arabic scripts and designs that you can take home. Speed painter Jose Luis Quiceno will also be creating works of art in a hurry at the mall.

Yas Mall

The big news for the Eid weekend has come from Yas Island – Yas Mall will host a 24 hour mega-sale from 10am on June 25 to 10am on June 26, with discounts of up to a whopping 90 per cent on offer. There’s also going to be a football pitch in the mall’s Town Square area and dancers, jugglers, musicians and more.

Al Wahda Mall

Al Wahda has a stage show running during Eid called Pirates Of The Arabia, plus a group of dancers performing an Arabic Dabke dance. You can also see the largest book in the world, which you can read all about by clicking here.

Marina Mall

There’s a celebrity in town at Marina Mall: Dora The Explorer is in Abu Dhabi, performing Dora The Explorer’s Friendship Fiesta and Dora’s Rainforest Maze. There’s a sale on June 23 with discounts of up to 90 per cent, plus late opening hours – it’s open until 2am daily.
