One of the Godfathers of dance music is returning to Dubai towards the end of this month.

After more than three decades in the industry, iconic British DJ Paul Oakenfold will be heading XL Dubai’s X-LOCO party on July 24 inside a fully air-conditioned, purpose built venue that’s perfect for summer.

Arguably the UK’s most successful ‘dance’ music ambassador (originally starting out on the jazz, hip hop and Northern soul scene), he helped to bring the sounds of acid house culture back to the UK following an infamous birthday trip to Ibiza with DJ buddies Nicky Holloway and Danny Rampling. Serving the world’s dance community for nearly 30 years, Oakenfold has played in dozens of countries, produced dancefloor anthems, and turned in remixes for U2, Massive Attack and Madonna.

“I’ve always seen Dubai as a cool place to play but also a great place to relax and do something different. Being in the desert and all, it’s something different to the usual DJ gig,” said Perfecto Records boss on his last trip the UAE.

“I think the scene is yet to be in full swing in Dubai. I think it’s a blank canvass to a degree. There are some great parties going on there and it certainly has its moments.”

Oakenfold headlines alongside DJ’s Tom Novy and local favorites Andy Swift, Adam Graca and Michka, plus Radio 1s Simon B and Mark shakedown.
