Where all will the VAT be applied to? From June 1, VAT will be applied to all parking services provided, including on-street and off-street parking, seasonal cards, permits and reservations.

And that’s not the only thing changing. It is also worth noting that in line with the government’s Dubai Cashless Strategy for 2026, cash payments will end on June 1, 2026. You can, however, continue to make your payments with nol cards.

As part of the transition towards digital payments, Parkin has encouraged customers to download and make use of the Parkin mobile application. The app is able to provide a convenient and seamless payment experience, and it will save you some dirhams by avoiding the SMS route.

It’s all part of Parkin’s commitment to delivering the best-in-class parking solutions for residents and visitors while ensuring its services align with the city’s evolving transportation landscape.

Earlier in May, Parkin introduced phase one of its on-street parking camera rollout at key locations across Dubai, marking the start of a wider smart parking upgrade.

The parking camera – the first of their kind in the region – are being installed on more than 500 kerbside and pole cameras  across Trade Centre 1, Burj Khalifa and Al Corniche. Building on this, parking lot cameras have also been deployed in controlled parking areas, with a further 200 cameras set to be installed across the city.

The system uses solar-powered, AI-enabled cameras to capture vehicle images, read number plates, and track entry and exit times. It also calculates parking duration, flags violations, and enables automated payments. The rollout aims to improve parking efficiency through real-time monitoring and automation, helping reduce congestion and make it easier to find available spaces.

All systems will be fully integrated with the Parkin app, allowing users to manage and pay for parking seamlessly via the Parkin Wallet.
