Emirates issues summer travel warning for DXB passengers
Heading to DXB in the next two weeks? Read this first
The summer holiday season is officially in full swing, and Terminal 3 is about to get busy. Emirates is bracing for a surge in departures starting this weekend, from Friday July 3 until Sunday July 5, with high volumes of passengers expected to continue through the summer break. So, if you’re jetting off soon, a little planning now will save you a lot of stress later.
The key travel advice from Emirates is that you should arrive at the airport early, allowing at least three hours before departure. Passengers are advised to clear Immigration with 1.5 hours to spare, and aim to be at their gate an hour before takeoff.
Emirates has also outlined some more top ways to save time and ensure you’re well prepared for your summer holiday
Take the metro
To avoid long queues to access the airport, use public transport: The Dubai Metro runs straight into Terminal 3.
Check in before you even leave home
The Emirates app lets you check in, pick your seat, download your boarding pass and even pre-order Business Class meals, all from your phone. Online and app check-in open 48 hours before departure.
Drop your bags early
You can check in and drop luggage up to 24 hours ahead of your flight (12 hours for US-bound travellers), then head straight to Immigration on the day.
Or skip the airport altogether

Emirates’ City Check-in at ICD Brookfield Place in DIFC lets you check in and drop bags 24 hours to 4 hours before your flight, daily from 8am to midnight until 10 August. There’s also a 24/7 option at Ajman Central Bus Terminal.
Let them come to you
Home Check-in sends an agent to your door in Dubai or Sharjah to handle your bags, complimentary for First Class flyers and Platinum Skywards members, and bookable for everyone else at least 24 hours in advance.
Getting around Terminal 3 is easy too
There’s a free train linking Concourse A and B, a round-the-clock shuttle bus between A and C every 20 minutes, and free buggies for elderly travellers, families and People of Determination.
Safe travels!
