The three-lane bridge is part of a wider 14km development of roads, bridges and tunnels across Oud Metha and Al Asayel Streets

As Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) continues to improve traffic flow across the city, a new three-lane bridge opened on Sunday July 26, which is set to reduce travel time and increase vehicle capacity at one of the city’s key interchanges.

Part of the Oud Metha and Al Asayel Streets Development Project, the three-lane bridge has xx, and serves traffic coming from Al Khail Road towards Al Asayel Street via Wasl Club Street.

The project. which is now 90% complete, will also see two additional tunnels open next month. The first will connect the service road on Oud Metha Street to the Sheikh Rashid Road intersection for traffic heading towards Bur Dubai, while the second will serve traffic coming from Dubai–Al Ain Road towards Al Wasl Club Street, helping address current traffic overlaps. RTA will also open a bridge serving left-turn movements for traffic coming from Al Asayel Street towards Oud Metha Street.

In total, the development includes four major intersections, several bridges and two tunnels, covering 4,300 metres and roads spanning 14 kilometres.

When fully complete, the travel time across Oud Metha Street will be reduced from 20 minutes to 5, marking a major time saving for residents who live and work around the area.

Building on existing improvements

Earlier this year, two bridges within the development opened to passenger traffic: a two-lane bridge at the intersection of Oud Metha Street with Al Asayel Street and Al Wasl Club Street; and a two-lane bridge at the intersection of Al Wasl Club Street with Al Khail Road. Both have worked to improve traffic flow in the area.
