What’s On has details of surely one of the best ice cream in Dubai, at Scoopi Cafe. The Black Diamond is the most expensive, costing Dhs3,000.
A cafe in Dubai is bidding to set the world record for the most expensive scoop of ice cream.
Coming in at around Dhs3,000, the ‘Black Diamond’ treat at Scoopi Cafe is more than just your traditional raspberry ripple. Made with exotic Madagascar vanilla ice cream, there are no hundreds-and-thousands here, only the planet’s most sought after Iranian saffron and slices of black Italian truffle.
And it wouldn’t be Dubai without a few sprinkles of 23-carat edible goal sprinkled on top.
It is quite a statement from the newly opened outlet on Jumeirah Beach Road, who also serve the delectable dessert with a Versace bowl and spoon, both of which can be kept by the customer.
Speaking about his products, owner Zubin Doshi said: “Popular ice-cream products in the city are priced lower, but we expect Dubai’s increasingly aspirational consumers to readily pay a premium for a superior product.”
For those who might just fancy something plain with a flake, other gourmet ice creams are available from a more reasonable Dhs15, while handcrafted chocolates – in flavours such as sea salted pecan, candy peanuts and coffee – will set you back upwards of Dhs126. They are, we’re told, inspired by trips to the chocolate capital of the world, Belgium.
According to information released at their opening, “the secret to the quality and taste of these sweet-toothed creations is liquid nitrogen, which is used to freeze ice cream at low temperatures, producing a smoother product with a buttery texture, in less than a minute”.
