What’s On has an interview with Richy Ahmed ahead of Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE in Dubai second birthday celebrations, also featuring the Martinez Brothers.

Part of the inner circle at Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations label, Richy Ahmed makes a welcome return to Blue Marlin  for the beach venue’s second anniversary. Our friends at Hype fire some random questions his way…

What did you want to be when you grew up? A boxer or a superhero.

What’s the worst club you’ve been to? The After Dark in South Shields [England] was a really crusty all-night rave, but we still had a wicked time and went most weeks.

What’s been your worst job? At college I did a part-time job where I had to sit for 12 hours in a factory scraping the rust from the inside of TV tubes to send to Africa. I didn’t stick around long.

What are you obsessed with? Universal consciousness and UFOs.

What do you hate right now? Lying politicians.

How do you describe what you do to someone who doesn’t know you? I try to make people dance.

Best record ever made? Billie Jean by Michael Jackson.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Don’t worry about being cool. Worry about being good.

Who’s your all-time hero? Muhammad Ali for being the best boxer of all time and the coolest person to walk the planet.

What do you collect – apart form records? Trainers – especially old-school Adidas and Nikes.

Who was your first love, and what happened? Saveloy dips with pease pudding and mustard back in South Shields. What happened? I was a fat teenager.

What’s your answer to almost everything? “At the end of the day though… it will all be sound.”

What’s your most prized possession that you’ve still got from when you were a kid? Absolutely nothing. I can barely keep anything for a couple of years even now.

What do you spend your money on? Taxis, good times and my lass.

What can’t you live without? Music, friends and family.

Do you have a recurring dream? Yes. I’m rolling on the floor having a fight with some guy. He must have done something to really set me off. Every time I try to hit him, I miss. I just can’t hit him. No matter what, I can’t hit!

What would you change about yourself if you could? I wish I was more organised and stopped losing stuff.
