Fancy a film? The movies out in Dubai cinemas this week
Our top pick of the movies out in cinemas this week is Hunt for the Wilderpeople, a cool and quirky New Zealand comedy from the makers of What We Do In The Shadows.
Here are all the new flicks you’ll be able to go see from today…
Hunt for the Wilderpeople
This quirky New Zealand comedy was made by Taika Waititi, director of What We Do In The Shadows (if you haven’t seen that one, check it out asap). It follows Ricky (Julian Dennison), an orphan who finds a happy life with his foster aunt Bella (Rima Te Wiata) and her grumpy husband (Sam Neill). When tragedy strikes, Ricky and Hec end up on the run from the law through the New Zealand wilderness. Playing out like a live action version of Up, it’s charming, funny and heartwarming. A must-watch.
Girl on the Train
Based on the best-selling novel by British author Paula Hawkins, Girl on the Train filled the void that Gone Girl left in our lives – a mysterious woman, unreliable narrators and a plot as twisted as the morally dubious characters. Emily Blunt stars as Rachel, a commuter who catches glimpses of a perfect couple, Scott and Megan, from the train. It all begins to unravel after she witnesses something shocking in their backyard and begins an investigation of her own…

The Disappointments Room
The Disappointments Room ticks all the boxes of your standard horror film trailer: dark, spooky house in the middle of nowhere? Check. Family hoping to start a happy new life in said spooky house, even though we know it’s probably not going to happen? Check. Beautiful lady (played by Kate Beckinsale) who doesn’t know if she’s really being haunted or if it’s all in her mind? That’s here too.
Also out this week:
– USS Indianapolis: Men of Honour
– Mirzya (Hindi)
– Oppam (Malayalam)
