Fancy a film? The movies out in Dubai cinemas this week
Our top pick of the movies out in cinemas this week is Hacksaw Ridge, a true story and World War II epic starring Andrew Garfield.
Here are all the new flicks you’ll be able to go see from today…
Mel Gibson might be a flawed character (and that might be a gross understatement), but man does he know how to craft an epic film. Hacksaw Ridge is based on the true story of Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield) a deeply religious man who joined the army in WWII as a medic, despite being a conscientious objector who refused to touch a weapon. His story is stirring, but the battle scenes are not for the fainthearted – we imagine you’ll be watching some of them from behind your fingers. The star-studded cast includes Hugo Weaving, Sam Worthington and Vince Vaughn.
A horror film with the kid from Room (Jacob Tremblay) and the moody teen from Stranger Things (Charlie Heaton)? Sign us up! Naomi Watts plays Naomi Watts, a child psychologist who looks after her catatonic son (Heaton) after he was paralysed in a car accident that also killed her husband. She takes in a foster kid (Tremblay) who wanders off one snowy night and is presumed dead. Or is he?! We’re never sure if the horror is real or all inside Watts’ head.
Rock on 2 (Hindi)
The sequel to Rock On! picks up eight years after the original film, and still includes a couple of stars from the original cast, including Farhan Akhtar, who played an accountant turned rock star musician. The second film adds Shraddha Kapoor to the cast as a shy singer who transforms when she gets on stage.
Also out this week:
– Operation Chromite
– Trenk, The Little Knight
– Lahore Se Aagey (Urdu)
– Asal Abyad (Arabic)
– Chhakka Panja (Nepali)
