Our top pick of the movies out in cinemas this week is The Family Fang, a star-studded drama featuring Nicole Kidman, Jason Bateman and Christopher Walken.

Here are all the new flicks you’ll be able to go see from today…

The Family Fang

This funny and heartwarming portrait of a dysfunctional family has a star-studded cast that includes Christopher Walken, Nicole Kidman and Jason Bateman, who also directs. Based on a bestseller by Kevin Wilson, Kidman and Bateman play siblings Annie and Baxter whose parents used them as part of their performance arts (i.e. pranks) when they were kids. When mom and dad disappear, Annie is convinced it’s another trick, while Baxter believes it’s something more sinister.

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage

“There are no more patriots – just rebels and tyrants!” says everyone’s favourite gravelly voiced action man Vin Diesel, aka xXx, aka Xander Cage. This bit of cheesy dialogue sums up a film filled with corny moments: a loose canon who plays by his own rules (Diesel) is recruited by the police to go after a bunch of villains, and assembles his own rag-tag team of miscreants to help him. We have to admit though, it looks like a lot of fun, from the explosion-heavy special effects to the wise-cracking dialogue. Popcorn fare at its finest.

The Bye Bye Man

The Bye Bye Man might be the least intimidatingly named horror film of all time. The villain in question is a shadowy, violent sort who appears if you say his name. Or even think his name. DON’T EVEN THINK IT. Way scarier than the Bye Bye Man himself is the sheer amount of horror clichés – attractive teens in danger, jump scares, a creaky house. It’s fine if you’re easily spooked, but horror aficionados might want to look elsewhere.

Also out this week:
