Aww, bless…

There are many reasons you might wish to visit one of Dubai Municipality’s customer service centres. But as one tourist discovered, a lunch date isn’t one of them.

The story of how a French tourist mistook Al Kifaf Centre near Zabeel Park for a shopping mall has been gleefully recounted on Dubai Municipality’s social media accounts.

Apparently, the man and his wife recently entered the impressive building “looking for a restaurant”, thinking it must be one of the city’s shopping centres.

But instead of finding a delicious lunch, the man found himself becoming an unwitting poster boy for Dubai’s civic body.

Dubai Municipality said the tourist’s blunder was clear evidence that the centre had “succeeded in achieving the concept of a 7-star service in terms of cleanliness and high quality service standards”.

It shared a photo of the man grinning sheepishly, accompanied by a Municipality official.

It’s not the first time a tourist has been dazzled by Dubai’s swanky government buildings.

As Khaleej Times reported last month, an Arab tourist and his wife mistook Al Muraqqabat Police Station for a fancy hotel.
