The new neighborhood will feature 13 apartment buildings and will be just a five-minute walk from Ferrari World

Another major project has been announced for Yas Island that will see 2,255 homes built, plus a promenade, restaurants and parks.

Property developers Aldar are behind Water’s Edge, which is set to open in 2020, and it’ll be located just a five-minute walk from the island’s theme parks, Yas Waterworld and Ferrari World, plus Sea World, which is set to open in 2022, and Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, which opens its doors in 2018.

You’ll find 13 apartment buildings in Water’s Edge when it opens, plus a waterfront promenade featuring restaurants and cafés. Each apartment building will have a private courtyard, plus swimming pools and courts where you’ll be able to play a variety of sports. There’ll also be a mosque.

In total, Water’s Edge will cost a whopping Dhs2.4bn to build. “Yas Island has established itself as Abu Dhabi’s most exciting destination with world-renowned leisure and entertainment attractions, and a range of luxury apartments, townhouses and villas set to welcome residents over the coming years,” says Aldar’s Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak. “Water’s Edge is the latest chapter in the Yas Island story – bringing high quality waterfront living to the emirate. We are confident that Water’s Edge will complement our existing residential portfolio, and draw a positive response from customers.”

Work on the Water’s Edge site will begin at the end of this year and is just one of several developments taking place on Yas. By 2020 the island will look completely different. Back in May, we reported how another project, called the Yas South Development, will include new concert and sports destination Yas Arena (with a capacity of 18,000), plus restaurants, parks, hotels and a promenade. Abu Dhabi’s new Media Zone is also set to open on Yas – it’ll be the new home of twofour54 and is expected to house 10,000 professionals every day.
