Impromptu raves + blow-up guitars + sword swallowers = selfie central.

Ready to switch up your social life? Well there are loads of nights out to try in Dubai this season.

From high-adrenaline bingo to hitting the high notes in your private pod, we’ve rounded up five novelty nights out in Dubai to try (warning: these are not for those of you who complain about the music being too loud when you go out for dinner)…

1. Bongo’s Bingo at ON42

Mixing traditional bingo with impromptu raves, hands-in-the-air anthems and plenty of heckling, this isn’t for the faint hearted. By the end of the night, expect dancing on tables, novelty prizes and crazy costumes. The next installment of Bongos Bingo will drop on Thursday January 25 with a live performance by N Trance. Tickets are Dhs150.

Media One Hotel Dubai Media City, Thursday January 25, Dhs150. Tel:056 895 7532. More info on facebook

2. Cirque Le Soir

Cirque Le Soir describes that it hosts a “whirlwind of wonders”, and that’s pretty accurate. Expect to be entertained by stilt-walkers, sword swallowers, giants and clowns while diving in and out of a giant ball pit (yes, actually) and taking turns at the popcorn machine. There’s weekly themed nights, from hip-hop to open format music, and performers changing on a daily basis.

Fairmont Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road, Mon, Thurs & Fri 10:30pm-3am, free entry. Tel:050 9955400. More info on website

3. Lucky Voice

There’s lots to love about this Barsha Heights bar: live music, a daily happy hour, two ladies’ nights, two brunches… oh, and private karaoke pods. There’s a huge list of tracks that you select from an on-screen menu, including pre-made themed playlists (such as ’80s and ’90s) so you don’t even have to stress out about choosing the right song.

Grand Millennium Hotel, Barsha Heights, Dubai, daily 4pm to 3am, Dhs50 per hour for the first two hours, then Dhs30 per hour. Tel: (04) 5146687. More info on website

4. Candypants

This one may happen in daylight, but it’s arguably the most “novelty” Dubai party of them all. Designed for the hardcore party people, expect commercial hits, inflatable air guitars, and water guns spiked with drinks. After the brunch, there’s free entry next door to XL for an after party, where brunchers pile onto the dance floor with resident DJs spinning pop hits till late.

Habtoor Grand, Dubai Marina, Friday’s 1pm-4pm, afterparty from 4pm, house Dhs325, sparkling Dhs375. Tel:050 220 4638. More info on website

5. Societe

Societe has a brunch afterparty every Friday in collaboration with Let’s Brunch. Running from 4pm until 10pm (or until 12am for the girls), there are cheesy hits from the ’80s,’ 90s and ’00s, free entry, and a brand new 6 hour ‘drunch’ of unlimited drinks for Dhs199. If you need food, societe has a pizza and burger menu to help keep you satisfied.

Marina Byblos Hotel, Dubai Marina, 4pm-10pm every Friday, Dhs199 for unlimited drinks. Tel: 050 699 3191. More info on website
