The Dubai ruler was showing his support to the Emirati entrepreneurs.

Dubai’s royals are often seen supporting cool new local restaurants, but HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum went one step further when he visited an Emirati dessert concept in London last week.

The vice president of the UAE and ruler of Dubai was snapped at Mlkcake by Gossip in Covent Garden on Thursday. The Emirati-owned Gossip brand is well-established in the UAE, with several cafes and dessert shops.

Their latest venture serves up oh-so-Instagrammable milk cakes, infused with signature flavoured milks and creative toppings. The dreamy cakes are washed down with coffee, milkshakes, or chai karak (a Dubai classic).

Naturally, the team was delighted that Sheikh Mohammed came all the way from Dubai to show his support.

“We were a little over-excited about his major visit to support the first Emirati brand globally,” they captioned the photo of his visit on Instagram. “What an amazing surprise!”

Want to try these Sheikh Mohammed-approved desserts for yourself? The good news is, you don’t have to fly all the way to London. Mlkcake by Gossip can also be found at Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi, and inside the new Todd English Food Hall in The Dubai Mall.
