Following the success of Othello, Dubai Opera announces its second Shakespearean theatre production, Much Ado About Nothing in September.

Dubai audiences will get to enjoy their second dose of Shakespearean theatre at Dubai Opera, when Much Ado About Nothing is staged from September 25 to 28.

Written around 1598, within a few years of As You Like It and Twelfth Night, Much Ado is considered to be one of William Shakespeare’s best comedic plays.

The plot

Everyone knows Beatrice and Benedick are perfect for each other. Everyone, that is, except Beatrice and Benedick. They are content to outwit and belittle each other at every opportunity.

As friends and family gather for the wedding of Claudio and Hero, two simultaneous plots emerge. The first, a sinister attempt by Don John to destroy the impending marriage. The second, a hilarious battle to bring Beatrice and Benedick together at last.

The New English Shakespeare Company takes Britain’s top theatrical talent to bring this timeless story of passion, penance, forgiveness and love to life in an up-to-date, vibrant, funny and profoundly moving production directed by award-winning British theatre director Derek Bond.

“I’m so excited to welcome this new production by the New English Shakespeare Company and directed by Derek Bond in a very contemporary take on perhaps the original Rom-Com. Featuring a global cast and set in Messina, this production examines passion, joy, honour and desire and is a story filled with laughter and music throughout,” said Jasper hope, Chief Executive of Dubai Opera.
