For the second year running, the popular car service app Careem will deliver food donations to UAE Food Bank fridges across the city…

In the spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan, residents from across Dubai can donate food to those in need in their communities thanks to the UAE Food Bank initiative.

And to make it even easier to donate food, Careem will collect donations of fresh, home-cooked meals or extra portions of takeaway (so don’t throw it away) and deliver them to UAE Food Bank fridges across the city completely free of charge.

Even if you’re not fasting, it’s a fantastic initiative to get involved in and give back to the community.

You can organise the collection straight from the app too, just select Food Bank from the car type menu on the app, enter your pick up location and type “food bank”.

The service is available from 11am to 5pm throughout Ramadan, and you’ll just need to make sure your container fits in a 35x35x35cm space.

Another way to get involved is by donating to Ramadan Sharing Fridges across your local area.

The best things to provide to the fridges are things like long-life juices, water, canned food, fruit & vegetables, milk, laban and biscuits. Remember, these fridges do not accept hot or cooked goods.

Across the city, there are more than 150 Ramadan Sharing Fridges where you can donate food items this year. You can see a map of all the Ramadan Sharing Fridges here.

People of Dubai are encouraged to work together to fill the fridges for people in need, like workers, underprivileged families and vulnerable citizens to help themselves to, throughout Ramadan.
