Who knew this existed?!

The Dubai desert might be your go-to for dune bashing, sand boarding or a safari, but lake spotting? That might not be your typical Dubai desert hobby.

But out on the Dubai – Al Ain road, there’s an amazing manmade lake that’s got ‘DUBAI’ spelled out in trees.

So we headed out to find it:

The lake is found in a remote part of the desert, just before you get to Sky Dive Dubai Desert Campus and Al Maha Desert Resort, but before you get to the services at the Dubai/ Abu Dhabi border.

There’s ample space to walk around it, and even a park with shaded areas adjacent to it where you can wile away an afternoon. But for the best views you’ll want to take a gyrocopter or hot air balloon ride and see it from above.

It’s not Dubai’s only wow-worthy manmade lake. At Al Qudra, Dubai’s ‘Love Lakes’ are a stunning new attraction in the desert. The two man-made lakes have been shaped into two interlocking hearts and are a short distance from the Last Lake of Al Qudra.

If it wasn’t romance-inducing enough, ‘Love’ has also been spelled out in trees next to it.
