Don’t book your tickets before reading this…

It’s no secret that regular trips to the cinema in Dubai can get quite costly. But, with so many great new movie releases out every week, it’s worth noting down a few of our best tips for saving money at Dubai cinemas.

Bank deals

The majority of UAE banks offer discounts to cinema-goers just for paying with their credit or debit card. You can find the deals easily online, so you can see which one works out best for you. Most of them offer two-for-one on tickets but some include a flat 50 per cent off, or even free snacks and drinks with your tickets.

Student discount

Did you know that if you’re studying (and can prove it) you can also save money at the cinema? For example at Vox Cinemas, every Monday, students with a valid ID can get a movie ticket, popcorn and a drink for Dhs47.25 instead of Dhs65.

Combine your movie with your meal

If your idea of the perfect date night is dinner and a movie, why not combine the two? Some Dubai cinemas have gourmet dining packages, where you can get a fully fledged meal delivered to your seat. Novo Cinemas’ seven-star experience offers premium comfort, butler service, a VIP lounge and fine-dining meal selection – plus your movie – for Dhs158 per ticket, including Dhs63.50 to spend on food and drinks. That’s a lot less than you’d pay for a cinema trip and a three-course meal. Plus, if you visit the IMG Worlds of Adventure branch, they’ll even throw in a free cheesecake.

Ladies’ nights

Roxy Cinemas launched its ladies’ night deal a couple of years ago, to much fanfare. The monthly deal is only for the girls, but includes your ticket, soft drinks, plenty of snacks and sometimes even a goodie bag. You have to see the particular movie offered, on a specific date, which is normally the third Tuesday of every month. This is priced at Dhs120.

Shop around

When it comes to searching for the best deal, it can take some searching. If you don’t mind where you watch your movie, you can seek out a great deal. Reel Cinemas at The Pointe for example, is offering (until February 28) 25 per cent discount to Palm residents and The Pointe customers.
