A new UAE Vice President and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi are among the new positions…

In his capacity as UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has announced a series of major new appointments to the UAE ruling body.

A new UAE Vice President

Among the huge new leadership appointments, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been appointed Vice President of the UAE. He will continue to also serve in his existing role as Deputy Prime Minister of Presidential Court. Sheikh Mansour will serve jointly as UAE Vice President alongside H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is already Vice President of the UAE alongside being the Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Mansour is the son of the UAE Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. 

The resolution to appoint Sheikh Mansour was issued with the approval of the UAE Federal Supreme Council.

A new Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed previously served as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi before he was appointed Ruler of Abu Dhabi, alongside his title as UAE President, on the passing of the late UAE President Sheikh Khalifa. In his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed has now appointed H.H Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Khaled is the UAE President’s eldest son.

Two new deputy rulers of Abu Dhabi

In his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed made a two further leadership appointments. Both H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan have been appointed as Deputy Rulers of Abu Dhabi.

According to The National, Sheikh Tahnoun currently serves as a National Security Adviser, while Sheikh Hazza’s current role is as Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

Well wishes from the emirates

As carried by state news agency wam, the rulers of Sharjah, Fujairah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah all sent their congratulations to the newly appointed rulers. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Ruler of Dubai, also took to Twitter to extend his congratulations to the four leaders on their new positions.

The Emir of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, also spoke to Sheikh Mohamed to congratulate him on the appointments.
