If you’re looking to escape the city, Kite Beach Umm Al Quwain has become a popular spot for a daycation that feels like you’ve left the emirates behind for a tropical beach in Zanzibar. And now you can make a weekend of it – as alongside the beach and restaurant, they’ve added a collection of African-inspired rustic-luxe chalets for your next glamping getaway.
The five Casa Mikoko chalets are all arranged in a neat row along a boardwalk, and come with thoughtful amenities and plenty of privacy, all while looking out over the calm natural waters. Four of the chalets have one bedroom, while the fifth is a two-bedroom chalet that sleeps up to four adults and two children. Two of the one-bedroom configurations and the two-bedroom chalet have private pools too, so you can enjoy the stunning natural surrounds from your own plunge pool, and even order a floating breakfast to start your day.
The chalets have a rustic feel to them, with an African inspired aesthetic that offers a tropical, instant on-holiday feel. But you won’t compromise on luxury. All of the chalets have the modern five-star amenities you’d want, like air con, a tea and coffee bar, hair dryer and slippers.
The outdoor space is where these chalets truly shine, with wooden decks fitted with a hammock for lazing in the sun and outdoor bathtubs or swimming pools. With all room rates, you get breakfast at the Casa Mikoko restaurant, which you can also head to for lunch and dinner. Here, local and internationally inspired fare is served up in a restaurant setting that carries the same rustic aesthetic as the chalets.
When you’re not relaxing in your digs, activities to look forward to include an array of watersports, from kayaking and paddleboarding to kite surfing lessons and sailing. Of course, you can also head to the nearby Kite Beach for a day of tan-topping on the sand.
Rates
One-bedroom chalets without pools start from Dhs1,200 per night including breakfast, and Dhs2,200 per night for the pool chalets. The two-bedroom chalet is Dhs4,200 per night, inclusive of breakfast.
