The UAE Tour is making its way through the city today… 

Dubai motorists, take note of these temporary road closures today, Thursday, February 22, due to the annual UAE Tour 2024 cycling event.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that traffic could be delayed by around 10 to 15 minutes between 12.30pm to 4pm at specific street intersections while the cyclists are passing.

“Please set out early to reach your destinations smoothly, as traffic will be temporarily suspended for 10-15 minutes at specific street intersections while runners are passing, in coordination with Dubai Police.” the RTA warned on X (formerly Twitter).

The cycle tour will start at the Dubai Police Officer’s Club at 12.30pm and will pass through Downtown Dubai around the Burj Khalifa, before heading out of the city and entering the Al Qudra desert, touching on the Al Qudra cycle track and Jumeirah Islands. The route then passes Palm Jumeirah and finishes at Dubai Harbour.

Roads affected include Oud Metha Road, Infinity Bridge Road, Al Wasl Road, Al Safa Road, Al Asayel Street, D63, E77, D54, D57, D59, Al Naseem Street, First Al Khail Street, D63, and D94.

The sixth edition of the UAE Tour spins into Dubai on Thursday, February 22 for an entire day of thrilling road racing. Starting and finishing in Dubai, the event will see professional riders tackle the vast and varied UAE terrain, passing some of the region’s top landmarks as they go.

The UAE Tour is broken up into a total of seven stages and sees racers travelling throughout the emirates. The first race commenced on Monday, February 19 at Al Dhafra castle in Abu Dhabi and the race has since travelled throughout the capital and has now landed in Dubai. After this race, the tour will move to Al Aqah to Umm Al Quwain before heading back to Abu Dhabi and concluding in Al Ain.
