They will receive a ready-to-use instant digital debit card

The UAE has introduced its first Instant Tourist Account, allowing visitors to open a bank account within minutes and access a digital debit card from the moment they arrive.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) developed the card in collaboration with the Central Bank of the UAE and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP). The initiative enables tourists and visitors to open a bank account via the ADCB Mobile Banking App, with an instant digital debit card ready for use from day one.

Here’s what we know about the ADCB Instant Tourist Account

The ADCB Instant Account is one of the first fully digital bank accounts designed specifically with international visitors to the UAE in mind.

According to the ADCB website, it offers:
  • Digital Banking: Seamless card and mobile payments across the UAE.
  • Exclusive benefits: Enjoy exclusive travel, dining and entertainment offers.
  • Easy ATM Access: Users can use the digital debit card for everyday spends and ATM withdrawals.

ADCB adds that a monthly maintenance fee of Dhs25 is applicable but will be waived with a minimum balance of Dhs2,500. You don’t need to maintain a minimum balance.

*UAE bans instant messaging apps for banking services from April 30, 2026*

The digital debit card can be activated through the ADCB Mobile Banking App. You can also request for a physical debit card through uBank, but issuance fees will apply.

The ADCB Instant Tourist Account will be available only for a limited time during the tourist or visitor’s visit to the UAE. This is based on country exit, visit visa validity or a maximum tenure of six months (subject to a seven-day grace period).

Upon closure, the remaining balance will be credited to the registered international account. So, you will need to register one international account under your name when you open the account.

What if you switch to a UAE resident visa? You will need to close the ADCB Instant Tourist Account and then open a new account. You won’t be able to convert the tourist account.

The tourist account can’t be open as a joint account, and while this account is still active, you will not be able to open, hold or apply for any other ADCB banking or financial products.

Do note, that any services availed at ADCB will be subject to service charges.
