Thinking about pet adoption? Dubai’s new Animal Welfare Shelter could be the place to start. The new facility brings veterinary care, rehabilitation and adoption together under one roof, making it easier for rescued cats and dogs to find safe, loving homes.

A safe place while they wait for a home

Located at the Birds and Pets Market in Warsan, the new Animal Welfare Shelter has been created to give stray and abandoned animals a safe place to recover while they wait to be adopted. The facility follows internationally recognised veterinary and animal welfare standards, with rehabilitation programmes designed to help animals settle into family life before finding a permanent home.

More than just a shelter

It doesn’t stop there. The shelter includes a customer service centre, a pre-adoption viewing area and interactive adoption rooms where visitors can spend time getting to know their potential new pet before making a decision. There’s also a fully equipped veterinary clinic, surgical theatre, grooming unit and rehabilitation centre, alongside a dedicated service that helps reunite lost pets with their owners after verifying their identification.

Adopting a pet just got easier

Dubai Municipality has also launched a dedicated online adoption platform, making it easier to browse pets looking for homes before visiting the shelter. Future owners can view available cats and dogs, along with information about their health and behaviour, helping them make a more informed decision.

Part of a bigger animal welfare plan

The project forms part of Dubai Municipality‘s wider efforts to improve animal welfare across the emirate. Partnerships with Vets for Pets Veterinary Clinic and Phoenix Veterinary Clinic will support the treatment and rehabilitation of injured and abandoned animals, while continuing public education around responsible pet ownership. The municipality will also continue its humane Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) programmes for stray cats, alongside initiatives such as its AI-powered Ihsan feeding stations, which launched earlier this year.
