‘Transformers, na na na na na, BMWs in disguise.’

Whether you were a fan of the original cartoon or the CGI-tastic Shia La Boeuf remake, there’s no doubt about it: Transformers are awesome.

We’ve all dreamt of having our very own Optimus Prime – a friend that’s able to skip the Sheikh Zayed traffic by simply sprouting legs.

Well, we may be closer to it than we think… there’s a transformer of sorts coming to the UAE.

WHERE CAN I SEE THIS TRANSFORMER?

The real-life transformer will be on on display at the Big Boys Toys 2016 exhibition at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi (which is running from Wednesday November 23 to Saturday November 26 at Adnec – read more about that here).

Turkish company Letvision have created their own line of transformers, known as Letrons, and the Letron that they’ll be bringing to the exhibition will be Antimon – a red BMW E92 that turns into a transformer in just 30 seconds.

Here’s a video showing how the BMW Letron works:

Here’s the official trailer of the Letrons:

How do they work? Well it took a team of 12 engineers and four technicians eight months to design and develop the car.

THAT’S NOT ALL THOUGH…

You can buy it.

It won’t be cheap: bidding will start at around Dhs2.2 million.

However, if you were looking for a car that can both zoom down Al Khail and turn into a robot, we’ve got some bad news.

The car is remote-controlled. There are no seats inside and it only has a max speed of 20 kilometres per hour.

“Since it is the first of its kind, we will auction Antimon to any buyer who wants to be the owner of the world’s first transformer,” Turgut Alpagot, Sales and Marketing Director of Letrons told 7Days.

“Bids will start at USD$600,000 (Dhs2.2 million), which is the original cost of the car.

“There will be 11 more cars joining this clan soon.”
