New Year’s Day is an official paid public holiday in the UAE, however this year January 1 falls on a Friday (which is already a day off for most workers).

Emirates New Agency has just confirmed that the holiday that marks the first day of 2016 will not be transferred to another day (as sometimes happens), meaning those with a standard weekend will not get an extra paid day off of work.

That said, this Thursday is a public holiday for Prophet Mohammad’s birthday (Peace Be Upon Him) and we have a lot of holidays coming up in 2016 – here’s a full list.
