Robin who? The Osnabrück-born underground DJ who went overground in a big way with his 2013 remix of Waves by Dutch hip-hop artist Mr Probz. Establishing himself as the go-to man to give pop songs a house kick, Schulz’s recent reworking of Prayer In C by Lilly Wood & the Prick also topped charts around the world.

Why should I see him play? Schulz recently released debut album Prayer on German label Tonspiel. The releases shows the breadth of his talents as a producer and remixer – full of radio-ready, three-minute tunes infused with his deep house sensibilities – skills surpassed only by his prowess as a club DJ.

What should I listen to? Try the dreamy, breezy, looped-up guitars of Same – uplifting house music at its best. For something a little tougher, there’s driving, techy track No Fun – although it, too, is underpinned by Schulz’s trademark, feel-good house hooks. For Robin in full-blown deep, dark, driving house mode, there’s his classy, pared-down remix of KlangTherapeuten tune Perlentaucher.

Where’s he playing? Robin Schulz headlines the opening party at outdoor venue Cielo Sky Lounge – his first set in the UAE, and one not to be missed.

In his own words…
“As soon as I heard Mr Probz’s Waves track I fell in love with it – the amazing guitar parts and his unique voice,” smiles Robin. “I started to produce the remix and my agency got in touch with Mr Probz’s manager. It was at the beginning in my career, and I was just happy they made it the official remix.”
