Sunshine, heat, fog and… the possibility of rain

UAE weather: The UAE’s summer sun is turning up the heat this week, with temperatures set to soar towards 48°C across inland areas. But it’s not all blue skies and blazing sunshine, with the forecast bringing a mix of humid mornings, hazy conditions and the chance of afternoon rain showers in parts of the country.

Here’s what to expect from the weather over the week.

Dubai

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), Dubai can expect a mix of fair to partly cloudy skies this week, with a chance of afternoon rain showers as convective clouds develop over eastern areas. Temperatures will remain firmly in summer territory, climbing as high as 48°C in inland parts of the country.

Humidity is expected to increase overnight and into Tuesday morning, bringing the possibility of fog or mist across some coastal and internal areas. Winds will remain light to moderate throughout the week, although they may pick up at times and stir up dust in some areas. Tuesday will bring similar conditions, with partly cloudy skies and the chance of afternoon rainfall linked to cloud formations over the east. Humidity levels will rise again overnight and into Wednesday morning, with mist possible in some coastal areas.

The hot and humid conditions are expected to continue from Wednesday through Friday, with temperatures gradually rising and hovering between 45°C and 48°C in parts of the UAE. Winds will remain generally mild, while the chance of afternoon cloud formation and rainfall remains possible over eastern and southern areas.

Heading into the weekend, temperatures will stay high, reaching around 45°C, before dipping slightly on Saturday to around 43°C. While the heat remains, the slight drop will offer a small breather from the peak summer temperatures.

Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is set for another week of summer heat, with temperatures expected to remain in the low-to-mid 40s°C. Coastal areas, including Abu Dhabi city, will feel the added effects of humidity, while inland parts of the emirate could see higher temperatures.

The week will bring mostly fair to partly cloudy skies, with humid conditions expected overnight and into the early mornings, bringing the possibility of mist in some areas. Winds will remain light to moderate, occasionally picking up and stirring up dust.

Similar conditions are expected to continue from midweek into the weekend, with temperatures remaining high and skies staying partly cloudy at times. Friday could see temperatures reach around 43°C, before a slight dip on Saturday and Sunday.
