First the Burj Khalifa, now The Beach…

Here’s a heads up for fireworks fans in Dubai who may have planned on heading to JBR to celebrate the end of 2017.

After the announcement that the Burj Khalifa would be replacing its annual fireworks display with a light show, we’ve learned that The Beach at JBR will also be without fireworks as it rings in 2018.

The same has been confirmed for La Mer, the new beachfront destination at Jumeirah 1 and Al Seef, the cultural district on Dubai Creek. There will be a New Year’s Eve concert at City Walk.

But it’s not all bad news for lovers of the dazzling displays.

Meraas, the company behind all four destinations, will be putting on more than 36 fireworks shows over Dubai Shopping Festival which kicks off on December 26 across Dubai.

On December 26, 28 and 29, plus every weekend throughout January, you’ll be able to catch fireworks displays at 8.30pm at Al Seef, 9pm at  La Mer and 9.30pm at The Beach.

For those looking for a fireworks display on New Year’s Eve, there are still options.

Displays are still set to go ahead at Atlantis The Palm, Club Vista Mare on The Palm, the Burj Al Arab and Qasr Al Sultan, the Arabian resort next to Dubai Parks and Resorts.
