Here’s why…

It’s recently lit up as everything from a giant score board for the World Cup to a bright red hue in celebration of UAE-China week, but this weekend the Burj Khalifa was covered by some of the world’s best-loved cartoon characters.

Why, you ask? Well, the world’s tallest building became alight with visuals of everyone from Bugs Bunny to Batman as part of the opening celebrations for Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi on Wednesday July 25.

From Looney Tunes favourites to iconic superheroes, the three-minute show was also re-shown on Friday evening.

After an official inauguration by HH Sheikh Mohammed on Tuesday July 24, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi opened to the public on Wednesday.

The indoor Yas Island theme park is home to 29 rides, split across six distinct lands. Covering an expansive 1.65 million square feet and coming in at a staggering $1 billion (Dhs3,673,200,000), there’s also a tonne of cartoon characters to hang out with, from DC Comics stars Batman and The Joker, Wonder Woman and Superman, to Looney Tunes favourites Bugs Bunny and the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote.

Here’s what happened when we had a sneak peek inside:
