Ladies’ nights, quizzes, art exhibitions, international superstars and Warner Bros. opens its doors…

Welcome to a brand new week in Dubai. We’re kicking off with all-you-can-eat deals for under Dhs100, and free flowing wine for Dhs125, while later in the week there’s a Middle Eastern art exhibition, live performance by Flo Rida and the grand opening of Warner Bros. indoor theme park in Abu Dhabi.

Here are eight things to do in Dubai this week.

Sunday July 22

1. See some live music at a ladies’ night

Every Sunday at Treehouse Dubai Bru Fave bring live R&B and soul acoustic sets to the picture-perfect Business Bay bar. The al fresco spot has gone undercover for the summer, and ladies can also take advantage of unlimited rose wine for Dhs125.

3. Test your knowledge with a quiz night

Brainboxes can test their general knowledge every Monday with a quiz night at Links at the Address Montogomerie. The multiple-round quiz kicks off from 8pm each week.

4. Check out a film at a hotel cinema

Dubai’s first hotel cinema is now open in the Rove Downtown. A collab with Reel cinemas, the 46-seater space shows big-budget blockbusters, as well as indie regional movies. Included in the Dhs70 price is a soft drink and popcorn, as well as your movie ticket. The cinema is licensed and also has a food menu – so why not enjoy a cheeky cocktail or snack such as nachos or sliders with your film?

Reel Cinema, Rove Downtown, various timings, Dhs70. Tel: (04) 449 1903. reelcinemas.ae

Tuesday July 24

5. Check out a Middle Eastern exhibition

Whether it’s Syrian artist Tammam Azzam’s image of a bombed out building being carried into the sky by a bundle of balloons, or Lebanese talent Nadim Karam’s sculpture of a woman dreaming, each artwork in the exhibition represents a notion of utopia. The word literally translates as ‘no place’, existing only as an unreachable state of perfection. Yet ;no place’ is exactly how this generation feels about the idea of belonging. This exhibition touches on cultural, social, and geo-political problems of contemporary Middle-Eastern artists.

Ayyam Gallery, Alserkal Avenue, Al Quoz 1, until Sept 20, Sat to Thurs 10am to 6pm. Tel: (04) 323 6242. ayyamgallery.com
